WhatsApp is now allowing users to silently exit group chats

WhatsApp is making it much simpler to avoid the unpleasantness that comes with being forced to quit a group discussion in front of everyone.

WhatsApp has introduced three new privacy-related capabilities, including the capability to hide your online status, depart WhatsApp groups without making a sound, and block snapshots for the “View Once” function “pictures.

On Tuesday, August 9, WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement regarding the new features.

You now have the ability to conceal whether or not you are online when using WhatsApp. Previously, customers were only allowed to conceal their ‘Last Seen’ indicator; however, the firm now gives you the option to also conceal your ‘Online’ indicator as well. Users of WhatsApp can now pick with whom they want to share their ‘Online’ status signal when the app has recently updated. You have the option of hiding the last time you were online from everyone, only unknown numbers, particular contacts, or from nobody at all. A new “Who can see when I’m online?” section will be added as a result of this feature “option that can be found under the last seen settings, with two different choices: “Everyone” and “Same as Last Seen.”

Both of these features, according to WhatsApp, will be made available to all users within the next month.

Additionally, an update to prevent screenshots from being taken of “View Once” notifications was included in the blog article. Users are already able to transmit messages and media that vanish after being viewed thanks to the feature that was initially released a year ago.

The firm is now testing a feature that will enable users to prevent other people from taking screenshots of these temporary messages; however, there is currently no timetable in place to indicate when this function will be made available to users.

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, issued a statement that was published on Facebook in which he explained that the recent improvements were made as part of an effort to develop “new ways to protect your messages and keep them as private and secure as face-to-face chats.”
